Hi, has anyone got this surgery before and what was your outcome?

I am thinking of getting this surgery but there is quite a difference in opinions. There are 34 Consultants offering this technique in the UK so it must have some benefit.

Are you aware the FDA just came out reviewing the Menaflex implants? The studies show they frequently fail. You might check any information you can about this. I’m sorry it wasn’t successful for you. I have knee surgery scheduled in two weeks. With no meniscus left I’m bone on bone with severe arthritis. Just waiting for my replacement.

I think I’ve watched this video a few times already. I also notice your username from kneeguru and I think I was following your progress at one point. It is disheartening that your knee isn’t getting better. I was actually hoping to get this surgery done at one point after hearing it “passed” FDA.

I had a 2nd surgery in Dec 2007 for a tiny tear and to clean up rough parts of my knee. I may have to get another surgery in another 2 years or so =/

Thanks for the heads up. Actually the surgeon that looked at my knee said that once I have surgery on my knee, I would be more likely to have surgeries down the road. That kind of scared me away from having surgery in the first place. Also I just lost my job on Tuesday and I don’t have insurance anymore. So I just that takes care of that problem (for now anyway.)

Yeh, when I first watched the video I was shouting… Enough! Noooo not that bit! STOPPPP! Lost more meniscus than I expected. Good luck with yours… and be very sure if you go for surgery. I’d rather have my pre-op pain than my post-op pain.

:40 through 2:17 munch munch munch. Ha ha. I just found out today I have a Degenerative medial meniscus tear. Fun stuff…

Unfortunately, my CMI failed and my knee is much worse than it was before surgery. 3 years on and I am looking at surgery again to try and fix it.
